2024 has been another exciting year. As well as having new design projects at every stage of the cycle, we have been collaborating with a number of top clubs in the UK on renovation works.
We had the task to renovate the historic East course and create a new golf academy at Wentworth Club in Surrey. The 6,200-yard course was designed by Harry Colt with our work coinciding with a celebration of the centenary of the course, having opened in 1924. The work included reshaping bunkers, revamping several green complexes, reshaping fairways and executing a woodland management programme, all with the objective of rediscovering some of Colt’s brilliance that had been lost over the past 100 years.
On Northern Ireland’s stunning northern coast, we have undertaken a comprehensive review of Portstewart Golf Club’s three 18-hole courses—The Strand, Riverside, and Old Course. The Strand Course at Portstewart Golf Club is a regular in critics and golfers top 100 courses in the UK. We are actively collaborating with Portstewart with their ambitious and multi-phase renovations.
In Fife, Scotland, at Elie Golf Club, which is one of the world’s oldest golf courses, we were handed the prestigious task of renovating bunkers and tees around the delightful course. Elie has panoramic views over the Firth of Forth, and the course is steeped in history, dating back to 1589. James Braid, a 5-times winner of The Open who was born in nearby Earlsferry, described the 13th hole at Elie as ‘the best hole in golf’.
At the exclusive Foxhills Country Club in Surrey, England, we were selected as the design company for their major golf course modernization project. Renovations have been underway on both of the club’s 18-hole courses, the Longcross and the Bernard Hunt, which were originally designed by Fred Hawtree and opened in 1975. Our plan for the project was developed in collaboration with agronomy specialists Turfgrass and highlighted areas where playing conditions can be improved and create a modern challenge for players.
