We are thrilled and very proud to have been involved in nine of the golf courses ranked by Today’s Golfer in their recent “Top 100 Parkland Courses in Great Britain & Ireland”. Having three in the Top 10 is particularly pleasing and a reflection of EGD’s added value.

At no. 3, EGD (Jeremy Slessor) were part of the 2016 team that remodelled the famous West course at Wentworth in Surrey.

Listed at no. 4 is the EGD (Robin Hiseman) designed and much talked about course at JCB’s UK headquarters. The course features the already iconic par 3, 17th island hole which is on many a bucket list.

At no. 7, EGD (Ross McMurray) designed the Marquees Course at Woburn in association with Peter Alliss, Clive Clarke and Alex Hay which opened in 2000. Since opening the Marquess course has hosted four British Masters tournaments. In 2016 Woburn hosted its first Major Championship on the Marquess course, The Ricoh Women’s British Open, which returned in 2019 as The AIG Women’s British Open.

EGD’s Gary Johnston is the designer and part of the team renovating the prestigious Longcross course (No. 30) at Foxhills, Surrey. Surrounded by Scots pine, beech and silver birch, the Longcross is consistently ranked one of the top 100 golf courses in England and recently hosted the International Series England this year.

At 25 and built for the 2010 Ryder Cup, EGD (Ross McMurray) designed the Twenty Ten Course at Celtic Manor in Wales which was famously won by Colin Montgomerie’s Europe Team.

We partnered up again with Colin Montgomerie at Carton House in Ireland which is listed at no. 44. The Montgomerie Course we designed with the Ryder Cup and European Tour legend has been host to three Irish Opens.

EGD renovated (Ross McMurray) the exquisite and picturesque parkland course at Marriott St. Pierre Country Club which is at no. 52. The resort in Chepstow is set in the rolling hills of South Wales and features a stunning 14th century manor.

The emerging Royal Norwich (no. 57) opened in 2019, the 18-hole course features genderless tees and a 6-hole academy course both designed by European Golf Design (Ross McMurray).

Nicknamed “The Beast”, the East Course at Dalmahoy (no. 81) near Edinburgh has been host to major events such as the Solheim Cup, the Scottish PGA Championship and the Scottish Seniors Open to name a few. The course was remodelled by EGD Designer and past EIGCA President, Ross McMurray.

We are European Golf Design, The Golf Course Design Company of the European Tour Group and Ryder Cup Europe.
