The Brief
Our mission was to create a signature Colin Montgomerie course on the grounds of an existing golf course at The Royal Golf Club in Bahrain, as part of the expansive Riffa Views residential development. Riffa Views features 1,000 luxury villas spread across three estates, complemented by top-tier amenities like the Riffa Views International School, Boris Becker Tennis Academy, a Country Club and Spa, fine dining options, and various cultural and leisure facilities.
The Course
Golfers are treated to a unique links-style experience in the heart of the desert with the championship-standard 18-hole Montgomerie Course and the charming 9-hole ‘Wee Monty’ course. Both courses are designed for fast, firm play, with fairways that run quickly and open approaches leading to enormous, dramatically contoured greens.
For an added thrill, the back nine of the Montgomerie Course and the entire ‘Wee Monty’ course are floodlit, giving players the chance to enjoy a truly unforgettable night golfing experience.
Status
The Royal Golf Club opened in late 2008 and gained international attention when it hosted the inaugural Volvo Golf Champions in 2011, where Paul Casey claimed victory.
