The Brief
We were thrilled to be chosen by British engineering powerhouse JCB to design an 18-hole golf course with the potential to host professional tournaments. This course isn’t just about great golf—it’s a key marketing tool for JCB’s global brand, designed to host their corporate guests and showcase what the company stands for.
The Site
Nestled across 105 hectares of mixed farm and parkland, the course lies right next to JCB’s world headquarters in Rocester, Staffordshire. The views stretch out to the stunning Peak District, and at the heart of it all stands the picturesque 18th-century ruins of Woodseat Hall, adding a sense of history and grandeur to the landscape.
The Course
We’ve designed the course to take full advantage of the site’s natural beauty and diversity. From open farmland and majestic parkland to lush woodlands and scenic lakes, every hole offers something unique. It’s more than a golfing challenge—it’s a journey through some of Staffordshire’s most breathtaking scenery.
Water features play a starring role here. The first and third holes make a statement, weaving around the old Uttoxeter Canal, now transformed into a stunning lake at Woodseat Hall. The fifth, eleventh, and twelfth holes follow the winding path of Alders Brook, while the course finishes with a bang: the iconic 17th and 18th holes involve dramatic shots onto and off an island in the South Lake.
Status
The course officially opened in 2019, offering a world-class experience from day one.
