The Brief
As lead consultants for the Evian Royal Resort, we were tasked with redesigning and renovating the existing course to prepare it for its debut as the 5th Major on the LPGA Tour, The Evian Championship, in 2013.
The Course
While most of the original layout was kept intact, we completely revamped all the greens, tees, bunkers, and water features. Significant redesigns of holes 5, 15, 16, 17, and 18 added excitement and enhanced viewing areas for spectators. Our goal was not only to elevate the strategic complexity of the course for The Evian Championship but also to improve the overall experience for club members and resort guests.
Status
The renovation was completed in two main phases. The first phase, running from November 2011 to March 2012, focused on rebuilding 14 tee complexes. The second phase began in September 2012 and involved reconstructing all green complexes, bunkers, water features, and the remaining tee complexes. This work wrapped up in April 2013, just in time for the tournament that September. Additional refinements were made in late 2016, including enhancements to greens 2, 12, and 15, and widening the fairway landing area on hole 4.
