In 2004, we undertook a major redevelopment of the Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club course alongside Thomas Bjorn, transforming it into the centerpiece of one of the world’s most prestigious golf resorts. The redesign maximized the value of real estate and resort development, with every residential unit sold within a short period. The entire project, from design to construction, was completed in just 14 months. The acclaim came quickly: Golf World included Dubai Creek in its Top 100 Golf Courses in the World in 2005, and it was named ‘Best Course in the Middle East’ by Business Traveller Magazine readers in 2008. In the 2011 Middle East Golfer Awards, the 18th hole was voted the Best Hole in the Middle East.
The Brief
Originally opened in 1993 as Dubai’s second golf course, the Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club needed a modern makeover to incorporate a new 5-star hotel and a residential development. We were tasked with using additional land to create a world-class resort course that would attract golfers from around the globe.
The Solutions
This $100 million project was ambitious in scope. Besides redeveloping the golf course, we integrated a luxurious 225-bedroom Park Hyatt hotel and 92 executive villas. We also added a floodlit 9-hole par-3 course, a driving range, extensive short game practice facilities, and a top-of-the-line golf teaching center.
The Course
Spanning 7,000 yards with a par of 71, the course provides a challenging yet rewarding experience. Thoughtful landscaping disguises its city-center location, while Dubai Creek and several additional water features enhance both the beauty and difficulty of the course.
