“One of our biggest challenges is managing files that often reach gigabytes in size, alongside an ever growing data archive. We also need to make sure everything is instantly accessible, whether our team are working in the office or remotely,” explains Matt. “EGD tackles this with a smart, custom built solution: cloud native servers that constantly sync with our Linux-powered server room. When working in the office, files are accessed directly from the local server while syncing seamlessly to the cloud.

But it’s not just running on household internet. “We rely on dedicated, resilient leased lines to move data quickly and reliably both ways, with gigabit Wi-Fi covering our entire office,” Matt adds. Our digital phone system also links seamlessly to mobiles and remote staff, so we’re always just a call away.

Running a design office isn’t for the faint hearted. “We rely on high tech equipment and an extensive collection of premium software licenses,” Matt says. Our team has full access to CAD tools, graphic suites, office software, and databases. Plus, we partner with a top tier provider to deliver cutting edge solutions and rock solid support. And let’s not forget, we’re equipped with high end in house printers and A0 plotters, producing professional plans and designs on demand.

All of this combines to create a powerhouse setup that keeps EGD at the forefront of golf course design in Europe. With fast data transfers and smooth collaboration, no idea is too big and no detail is ever overlooked. It’s where creativity and technology come together to make great designs happen every day.

At EGD, we meticulously record our energy consumption, all of which is sourced from certified renewable power. We also track the power required to maintain our online presence. Through these efforts and our offsetting initiatives, EGD is dedicated to forging a sustainable and thriving future for everyone.

What’s next? We’re not waiting for the future to arrive, we’re making it happen.
